The Hunter Lab at Northwestern University is focused on the development of molecules and materials which can electrochemically and sustainably convert earth-abundant feedstocks to value-added chemicals and fuels.
We employ state-of-the-art materials synthesis protocols and applied electrochemistry to screen and assay for desired reactivity. By focusing mainly on electrochemical processes, Carnot inefficencies can be avoided in industrial-scale transformations.
We are aided by computational methods, simultaneously mining crystal structure databases for target structures and predicting properties of materials and molecules as they are synthesized in the lab.
